Imprivata Announces Partnership with VMware
Seamless Integration of Imprivata OneSign and VMware View Delivers Complete Solution for Fast and Secure Access in Virtual Desktop Environments
LEXINGTON, MA-Aug. 2, 2010-Imprivata®, Inc., the company that simplifies and secures user access, today announced a relationship with VMware that integrates VMware View™ and Imprivata OneSign®. The integration will enable secure and convenient end-point data access and user roaming desktops with location awareness in virtual desktop environments. Under the partnership, Imprivata and VMware will conduct joint marketing, sales and support initiatives within healthcare and other markets where customers are eager to leverage the value of the combination of virtual desktops with simplified and secure user access to improve user productivity.
“Healthcare is a prime example of a market that sees virtual desktops as a powerful means to improve workflow within an environment that’s heavily-reliant on roaming sessions and shared workstations,” said Vittorio Viarengo, vice president, desktop products, VMware. “To fully realize the value of this roaming model, desktop virtualization must be teamed with solutions that make patient data easily accessible, enforce privacy and deploy transparent security. With deep healthcare expertise built on more than 500 hospitals, Imprivata will leverage VMware View™ to deliver high-impact solutions that address the industry’s growing interest in secured virtual desktop environments.”
According to a March 2010 Gartner Research report, Get Ready for Hosted Virtual Desktops (HVD), “Interest in hosted virtual desktops continues to grow, and, although deployment is not yet commonplace, uptake is set to increase throughout enterprises. This is because HVDs provide end-user flexibility, efficiency, energy savings and other benefits, enabling administrators to manage desktops from a centralized location and end users to access their desktops from machines in any location.”
“While we see desktop virtualization gaining momentum in several markets, nothing compares to the demand that has risen in healthcare over the past 12 months,” said Omar Hussain, president and CEO at Imprivata. “Enabling efficient clinician workflows with desktop roaming translates directly to increased productivity and improved patient outcomes for our customers. Because OneSign’s architecture is ideally suited for VMware View™, and fully leverages its unique capabilities, Imprivata’s collaboration with this industry leader is a natural step, and will result in a combined solution that delivers on the true promise of secure follow-me desktops. ”
