When patient tests and records are computerized, so the theory goes, it’s fast and easy to access them – all you need to do is click a few keys. In reality, clinicians can be bogged down when they encounter the dozens of databases and repositories that accumulate in a hospital or clinic. It’s just too hard to log-in and out, let alone remember all of those passwords. That explains why many Canadian hospitals are now investigating single-sign on (SSO) solutions – which tie multiple systems together and enable users to seamlessly enter them with just a single log-on.
