Catholic Healthcare Partners Standardizes On Imprivata OneSign for Single Sign-On and Strong Authentication Management

Deployment planned across 32 hospital network to enhance security and speed access to patient data for its 34,500 employees

LEXINGTON, MA, April 6, 2009 -Imprivata®, Inc., the employee access management company, today announced that Catholic Healthcare Partners (CHP) has selected the OneSign Platform to improve clinician access to patient data across its network of 32 hospitals and 34,500 employees. The decision to standardize across the CHP health system was largely driven by OneSign’s superior fast-user switching and broad user authentication capabilities, building on Imprivata’s reputation for delivering exemplary single sign-on (SSO) and authentication management solutions to healthcare organizations worldwide.

“The ability for our clinicians to access patient data quickly and securely is critical in order for Catholic Healthcare Partners to provide the compassionate care that our communities have come to expect,” Becky Sykes, CIO of Catholic Healthcare Partners. “Standardizing on Imprivata OneSign helps us secure our patient data and gives us the flexibility to deploy strong authentication devices that match our clinicians’ workflows – ensuring their acceptance of the technology solution.”

CHP’s Mercy Health Partners is already gaining value from their implementation of OneSign with finger biometrics. Mercy Health Partners uses OneSign to manage employee access policies and authentication credentials to a wide variety of applications the hospital relies on to enable staff to provide quality patient care. With a heterogeneous mix of health information systems (HISs) throughout its 32 hospitals, CHP also found it valuable that Imprivata was the chosen access management partner of most all leading HIS vendors. OneSign works seamlessly with solutions from Epic, McKesson, Meditech and Siemens, and others that CHP may encounter down the road. In addition, OneSign’s unique Application Profile Generator (APG) technology that intelligently automates and quickly SSO-enables applications without costly custom integrations was an important deciding factor to choosing Imprivata.

“At Mercy Health Partners, we have already seen the benefits of using Imprivata OneSign and our clinicians love the ability to gain fast, secure access to patient information with a simple swipe of the finger,” Jim Albin, Division Vice President/CIO, Catholic Healthcare Partners, Northern Division. “Our doctors and nurses are constantly on the move between patients, so they take full advantage of OneSign’s fast-user switching capability, leaving more time to focus on providing quality care, while ensuring data security.”

Hospitals throughout the CHP health system will begin deploying Imprivata OneSign over the coming months. They will benefit from improved password management by SSO-enabling applications and enhanced security by offering clinicians the most convenient and appropriate form of strong authentication. OneSign will enable CHP to cost-effectively streamline employee access management, ensure data security and generate comprehensive reports for HIPAA compliance.
