VMworld 2011: From the Show Floor- Part 2

Day 2 is now in full swing at VMworld 2011. We had a very busy Day 1 yesterday. While the show attendance was clearly impacted by Irene, it sure feels like there are 15,000+ VMworld attendees here in sunny Vegas.

The Imprivata booth has been heavily attended so far (see photos). The exhibits officially opened last night at 5:30 pm and ran for two jam-packed hours of introductions, hand-shakes, elevator pitches and awesome product demos.

There is much more momentum this year around real deployments of virtual desktops. Leading this trend is the demonstration of the joint development work between Imprivata and Teradici to support No Click Access from zero clients. We have two demo stations enabled with OneSign and the new soon-to-be released Teradici support on Wyse P20 zero clients -- the roaming desktop demonstration is monster! You can see the Imprivata demo all over the VMWorld show floor at VMware, Dell, Teradici, VCE and very soon (maybe already if you’re reading this late) at Samsung on their zero client monitor. Desktop virtualization is strong in healthcare (stay tuned for more on that in a couple of weeks by the way) – we’ve already talked to several hospitals who are moving to View and zero clients now that they are soon to be to able to support authentication and SSO. Actually, the quote was “Our doctors are screaming for SSO”. With View and Zero clients they can dramatically reduce the cost, management and complexity for nurses and doctors across a wide range of devices including Workstations on Wheels (WOWs) and kiosks.
