Imprivata OneSign FastPass Provides Quick and Secure One-Touch Log-In At Any Workstation
OneSign FastPass with Proximity Cards and Finger Biometrics Streamlines Employee Access and Strengthens User Authentication
LEXINGTON, MASS. Oct. 7, 2009 Imprivata®, Inc., the employee access management company, today announced availability of OneSign FastPassTM for organizations that need a strong form of Windows authentication that doesn’t inconvenience users when their jobs require them to authenticate many times per day across different workstations. OneSign FastPass allows a user to perform two-factor authentication at the start of their work shift using either their ID badge or fingerprint in combination with a PIN or password, and then over a configurable “grace period,” the user can authenticate to Windows on different computers with the simple touch of their ID badge or fingerprint.
“For environments like healthcare where quick access to patient data is critical to quality care and crucial to prescribing appropriate actions, OneSign FastPass helps hospital staff focus on the patient rather than the secure log-in process,” said Omar Hussain, president and CEO of Imprivata. “Imprivata is committed to delivering solutions that help customers enhance security without disrupting the user’s workflow. FastPass is the latest example of Imprivata delivering innovative, practical solutions that make our customers more secure and their employees’ lives easier.”
Available now as part of the OneSign platform, OneSign FastPass supports the following user authentication scenarios:
- FastPass for Proximity Cards allows users to quickly and securely log on to different workstations simply by touching their ID badge on a reader without having to type their Windows username and password every time they log on. Users perform a secure, two-part authentication at the beginning of their work shift simply by touching their ID badge on a reader and entering an easy to remember PIN or password as the second factor. From that point on, FastPass starts an authentication ‘grace period’ during which users can access any shared workstations simply by touching their card on the reader.
- FastPass for Finger Biometrics allows users to quickly and securely log on to different workstations simply by touching their finger on a reader without having to type their Windows username and password every time they log on. OneSign’s patented fingerprint technology identifies and authenticates the user in a single step.
“In addition to healthcare, many environments require fast access to an ever-increasing number of applications,” said Mark Diodati, Senior Analyst, Burton Group. “These crucial applications typically contain confidential data, so organizations must strongly authenticate users in order to meet compliance mandates.”
